Emma got her second ever haircut today. She expressed a little concern at having her curls cut off, and I thought she might freak when she saw them on the floor, but she was unfazed. I was hesitant to cut her hair when she already didn't have very much, but she was getting pretty shaggy and her hair really does look much better now.I love coffee. Before I was pregnant with Noah, I liked it all right and drank it occasionally. Since he was born, however, I have somehow developed an infatuation with coffee. It is just so wonderful and delicious! For Noah's sake, I limit myself to two cups a day, and earlier this week I even decided to stop drinking it all together. To cement my decision, I didn't buy any more creamer when I went to the store that day. Well, that only lasted a few hours and by that afternoon I headed out to Starbucks for some coffee. I couldn't just make it at home because I didn't have any creamer! (I have a few issues with Starbucks - the outrageous prices, and the fact that they are everywhere. Steve and I realized today that there are SEVEN Starbucks stores within 15 miles of our house! I would sort of like to go somewhere else, but I don't because nowhere else that I know of has a drive-through, and also because Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes are to die for.) I totally caved because now I've been to Starbucks several times this week, BUT yesterday I realized that long ago I should have learned how to make my own lattes to save myself a bunch of money and also have them readily available for me every day. I did a little research on the art of making lattes, and I am ordering an espresso maker and a milk frother and soon I will be in latte heaven.Oh yes, and I have to mention that candle that's in the above picture. I got two soy candles at Joann's yesterday for 50% off and, wow, they are amazing. Well, we haven't burned one of them yet but the one in the picture is quite possibly the best candle I've ever had. Our entire house smells like very aromatic sugar cookies. Tomorrow I'm going to try to go back there to get some more while they're on sale.

UPDATE: After looking around online some more, I discovered that Pumpkin Spice lattes are apparently only good when made with Starbucks syrup. Any other brand of syrup is not even worth buying, according to the pumpkin spice fanatics. Can you believe there are actually forums and entire blogs dedicated to Starbucks? I was sitting there reading some posts and thinking about what geeks these people are for getting so involved in discussions about coffee. And then I realized that since I was actually reading the stuff, I am probably just as geeky. Oh, and the only way to get Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice syrup is on ebay, where it has been listed by delinquent Starbucks employees who have stolen it from the stores, and it goes for about $55 a bottle. Rats.

I hear you on the coffee. My dh makes me lattes on his expresso machine. When he gets a new one I'll learn to make my own. :-) Maybe I shouldn't though ;-)

Emma looks cute with her new haircut.

Starbucks is a last resort for me. I'm a LatteLand girl. Non-Starbucks drive-thrus that I know of: Caribou on Shawnee Mission Parkway near I-35, and a LatteLand way the heck out on 135th St. near all the stuff that has built up out there. There's also a drive-thru on 135th called the Beanery or something like that. Why does 135th St. get all the drive-thrus? My mom likes McDonald's new coffees (and they are free on Mondays), but I think they are way too sweet. They don't even taste like coffee.

These may not be near you (don't know where you are), but, if you're ever near them, there you go!

I'm excited about your espresso maker and frother, even if you can't get the pumpkin spice syrup. You will make other lattes, and when you do I hope you do a blog post on them.

Plus, good for your for ordering what you want/need, even at holiday time. I've been thinking a lot about the Christmas list issue and I'm converting over to your side--just enjoy the holiday for family time and crafts and all that it has to offer, and keep the whole issue of "stuff" out of it. Thanks so much for your input!

Ok so I went straight to ebay to check it out. My hubby is laughing about this! Cute hair...we are doing the first cut on our daughters 3rd birthday. Long to wait I know, but I can't get myself to do it!

Sarah, you are such an amusement to me! My Bible Study Group sweetly gave me a Starbucks card which I will soon use for my first-ever visit there. I sure hope I don't get addicted!

1. Emma's hair is so cute, and makes me think I need to get Lo to a professional post haste.

2. There is crack in Starbucks. I can't prove it, but it has to. We're all being brainwashed - and enjoying it. Mmmm Pumpkin Spice Latte...

I'm sorry to see that you didn't take my advice about kicking the coffee habit. I am delighted to see that Emma has lost her mullet.
