Ems and I are staying at my mom's house this weekend. A boatload of aunts, counsins, grandparents, etc. are here today baking cookies. I've been hiding out in the basement trying to get Emma to sleep, but people keep running up and down the stairs, turning on the lights, or doing anything else they can to sabotage her nap.

Yesterday Emma gave me my first taste of what it'll be like being the mother of a teenager. On the drive here, which is about 3.5 hours, we listened to many, many kiddo tunes. When my personal favorite, Banana Phone, came on, I turned it up and danced in my seat and sang my heart out. I turned around to see if Emma was enjoying it as much as I, but she had this horrible scowl on her face. She looked at me and - I swear she has never done this before - she put her finger up to her lips and said "SHHHHHHH!" She's not even two years old and already I'm getting on her nerves!!
