Does anyone else have serious problems going to Juffy Lube and spending an exorbitant amount of money every single time? What is the deal with that place? I feel like every time I drive away the employees are high-fiving each other while exclaiming, "Sucka!!" Yesterday I went in there and was happy to see they were running a special for a $19.99 oil change. Sweet. Twenty bucks. No problem, right? Wrong. When I first got there I said no to new wiper blades (even though my wipers have been completely useless for about two years now), but the guy did talk me into the high mileage oil upgrade. When he took me back out to the garage to give me the skinny, he said everything looked good but it was time to change my transmission fluid. This service is usually $39.99, but today he'll give it to me for $29.99, and the way he talks, it really sounds like something I have to get. (Steve told me later that he doesn't even think manual transmissions need new fluid ever. I have no idea.) The guy once again brings up the wiper blades, saying mine are really frayed and offering to take $5 off the price. On this I stand firm, especially because I know you can get them for about $16 less at a store. Actually going to a store and buying them, however, is another story. Anyway, when it was time to pay, he swiped my card and then told me it was $77. $77!?!?! I asked why it was so much and he ran down the list (the dumb oil upgrade was $10 - that's the last time I'm getting that!), listing the transmission fluid as $39.99. I reminded him that he told me $29.99 and he apologized and went to get his manager. The manager came in and said, "I'm so sorry. Since we already ran the card, how about we just give you the wiper blades for free?" I'm thinking, "That's not free, you jackasses!" but I said, "Sure, that would be great." So much for the special. At least now I will be able to not be risking our lives every time I'm driving in the rain.

You should have just driven off without giving them your card. Then you and Emma could have high-fived each other while exclaiming, "Suckas!"

One of the girls here asks her boyfriend to buy her an oil change every year for Valentine's Day and she says that is the best gift ever. Now I know why. We have a guy in my town change our oil, and he used to pick up my car off the high school parking lot and then put it back for me with the changed oil before school let out.

Golly, Abbie, it must be only in Farber where you can get service like that!
I'm relieved to know you have new wiper blades, Sarah. That must be going around--Dad just replaced the ones on Davey's Passat, and Peter replaced his last night.
Don't forget the cake pictures!
